A friend posted this on Facebook recently. It’s an interesting way of looking at things on a larger scale. I think one of the top rated comments said it best, this video is “equally inspiring and hilarious.”
Both a terrible pun (it’s extremely hot in Melbourne today and almost any movement is uncomfortable), and a perfect segue for shameless self-promotion via social media!
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud! If you want to send an email about anything then it goes to sosomanagement [@] gmail.com
Little Warriors can be found on Facebook and SoundCloud. I’ll probably take them to Twitter too, despite the reluctance of the rest of the band. You can email us at littlewarriorsmanagement [@] gmail.com and catch us at the St Kilda Festival in two weeks time! (Details in a post below)
Also, to mark the beginning of February - which I like to consider the start of my new year after procrastinating through much of January - I’ll be updating this page more often than I have been.. so hide yo kids, hide yo wife. Alternatively, tell them to follow me.
I thought I’d give another quick update on what’s been happening. I’m still working away on remixes and original tracks for So-So, but at the same time I’ve also been busy rehearsing with another one of my projects - Little Warriors.
“As fresh as the decade itself, newly formed pop experimentalists Little Warriors gathered in early 2011 wanting to explore new ways of songwriting and making sound. Combining a nostalgia for the pop sensibilities of the 80’s and 90’s with modes of production from the latter years of the 2000’s, Little Warriors layer ethereal vocal harmonies upon rhythm driven compositions of electronic sound.”
You can check us out at the St. Kilda Festival on the Push Stage on Sunday, February 13th. We’re playing at 12.45 which is pretty early, but we’re extremely lucky to have the slot and excited to finally be playing! You can suss some of our sample material on our Soundcloud page (or just stream it below)!
I haven’t updated this in a while, so I thought I’d let y’all in on what’s been happening in my life. Over the past two weeks I’ve been really busy working on a couple of original productions, as well as a number of remixes that I’m hoping to get out to you soon! I’m also working on another set to show around so I can start playing more!
I randomly came across this Star Wars parody on Sampology’s site and thought it deserved to be posted again! The guys over at PistolShrimp are doing some really good work. The Harry Potter parodies are amazing too, so check it!
Earlier this year, there was a remix competition held for Kavinksy’s (You can get at him with these links: Facebook, Discogs, Twitter) track Nightcall, which also features Lovefoxxx of Cansei De Ser Sexy. I never got around to actually finishing a remix for it, but I was bored one night and found all of the stems on my computer so thought I’d finally get around to doing one.. sort of wish I had the idea earlier.
You can check out the results of the competition here.
Anyway, here’s what I came up with! It’s got an Ambient / Hip-Hop feel, and there’s still a few things that I want to edit before I re-upload, but I’m just happy to have it out! Happy New Year (Almost)!
The first Falls Festival - which was originally named the Rock Above the Falls Festival - was held on the 31st of December in 1993 and featured only nine acts. A ticket to the festival cost just $20, and the organisers were anticipating no more than a few thousand people to make their way to the farm. It was on that day, however, the inexperienced organisers were forced to accommodate more than ten thousand people, eventually having to negotiate with the neighbouring farmers for temporary use of their land to facilitate the large crowd. The first Falls Festival was successful.
Now about to enter its 18th year, the Falls Festival at Lorne is set to begin later today - or tomorrow, depending on your pass - and if last year is anything to go by, will be an offering of “grandiose proportions” that allows for a combination of “musical perfection, artistic interludes and summer escapism.”
The modest festival that began all those years ago is now host to some of the most thrilling performances from artists worldwide - such as Interpol, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and The National to name a few appearing this year. If you were lucky enough to get a ticket, you’re in for something special which will undoubtedly be another chapter added to the Falls history book.
You can view the full 2010 line-up for the Falls Festival (Lorne) here, or if you were lucky enough to buy tickets for the Marion Bay site, the full line-up is here.
Moombahton - pronounced ‘Moom-bah-tone’ - was created by American DJ / Producer Dave Nada by slowing the Afrojack remix of “Moombah” (YouTube video) by Silvio Ecomo and DJ Chuckie to 108 beats per minute.
Moombahton, however, is more than just slowing “Dutch House to 108 BPM.” There are often a number of new elements added to the original tracks - such as chopped vocals, layered acapellas and enhanced build-ups - as well as the addition of new drum and percussion tracks. Furthermore, in recent times people have started to move beyond making edits and have started to produce original tracks, so keep an eye out!
Here’s a set I put together, recorded and uploaded a few weeks ago! You can favourite it, download it or share it on my SoundCloud page.
Enjoy. Download. Share.
20 Minutes of Moombahton by So-So 1. Devoted Moombahton - Sabo 2. Cumbia Nightlife - Joyce Muniz & Shanti Roots (Dave Nada Moombahton Edit) 3. Heads Will Roll - Yeah Yeah Yeahs (A-Mac Moombahton Edit) 4. Senta - French Fries (Gilsun & B.A.B.Y’s Moombahton Edit) 5. Here Comes - Foamo (Nadastrom Moombahton Edit) 6. Club Go - DJ Bam Bam (Naysayer’s Moombahton Edit)
P.S. If you wanna grab a few more Moombahton edits, then head over and see my friends at Bossman Records and get it sorted. They’ve also just dropped their first release which is free and utterly amazing! Stay tuned for my remix of Gilsun’s incredibly catchy track Uh-Huh which is coming soon!
I’m a twenty year-old DJ / Producer from Melbourne, Australia and began working on my material (originals, remixes, sets) towards the end of 2010.
I made this blog so that I could share both my work, as well as the amazing creations of others, with as many people as possible. All of the material that has been collected for the blog is presented with the sole intention of providing visual and / or aural stimulus for those viewing.
